Ryan Haygood’s statement on the passing of Al Koeppe, former Institute trustee:
The Institute is deeply saddened by the passing of Al Koeppe, our former trustee, PSE&G President, and civic leader. The son of a longshoreman and first in his family to attend college, Al, as one colleague noted, never forgot where he came from. He was incredibly knowledgeable, accessible, shared his wisdom freely, and cared deeply about expanding opportunity for everyone. We will carry on his spirit of generosity, kindness, and his commitment to advancing racial, social and economic justice in New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the RWJ Barnabas Health Foundation and to St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark.
