The New Jersey Institute for Social Justice mourns the death of our founder and inspiration, Alan V. Lowenstein.  Alan’s vision of a more just and inclusive Newark, New Jersey and America, and his willingness to risk and sacrifice in service of these ideals, represent the highest traditions of the law and public citizenry.  He will remain always the lodestar of the Institute.  To serve as a modest component of his vast legacy is both humbling and deeply inspirational for us.  May our work bring honor to his memory.
