Lois Larkey
Director of Development

Ms. Larkey joins NJISJ after a deep and long history as a successful fundraiser and community activist, as well as twenty-five years as a master teacher. A native Newarker, Lois has been a member of the board of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Newark since 1975, the first woman elected to the Board. She has chaired the Youth of the Year Committee for the last five years, and has served on many other committees of BGCN.

Appointed by the trustees of South Orange Village, Lois became chairman of the Community Relations Committee. During that time, Lois inaugurated The Gaslight, a newsletter that has been published for decades and is sent to all citizens of the town. During her tenure, the committee began “Village Aglow” and the “Villager of the Month” Award. Subsequently, she was hired as a professional fundraiser for the YMCA, and in that capacity, raised enough funds to begin the YMCA Child Care Center in Maplewood, which has grown substantially and is a profit center for the Y.

Active in the Jewish Community, Lois was President of the Theresa Grotta Service League, raising money for the 142 bed rehabilitative facility. She was sent on a national mission for the UJA to Russia, Romania and Israel, and was a member of the national speakers’ bureau of the UJA. She received the Julius and Bessie Cohen Leadership Award and represented Metrowest NJ at the CJF Conference in San Francisco.

As a graduate of Connecticut College for Women, Lois was honored by the college with the Goss Award, for outstanding contributions as a fundraiser and President of the Class between 2000 and 2005.
