Corey joined the Institute’s legal department in the Spring of 2010 as a volunteer attorney to later become Special Counsel. Previously, he clerked for the Honorable David F. Levi, Chief Judge of the Eastern District of California and litigated in private practice for international and boutique law firms. As a litigator, he participated in numerous pro bono activities, including serving at-risk populations as part of the Homeless Advocacy Project. His current work at the Institute focuses on economic development and criminal justice. He is also a member of the Housing and Urban Development Committee of the New York City Bar.
Corey received his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and Order of the Coif, earned the highest grade in Real Property and Community Economic Development, and was a member of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with honors from Washington University in St. Louis.
