Ed Gittens is a trained social worker, who has worked for organizations that have focused in families in general and the roll of fathers in particular. Ed previously worked for UIH Family Partners, Trenton, NJ, where he led a comprehensive set of fatherhood initiatives designed to strengthen and enhance men’s lives within their families as well as help them foster positive development in their children.
Ed has also been one of the driving forces behind the pioneering “Platinum Dads” program in Trenton. This citywide program acknowledges and celebrates outstanding fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers and foster fathers who have made real differences in the lives of their children.
In June 2009, Ed was presented with the prestigious Ronald F. Johnson Award. This award is given annually to a community based organization, non-profit agency or individual for outstanding leadership in promoting responsible fatherhood and building strong families.
