While still a legal student, she worked at the Immigration Unit of the New York Legal Aid Society; at the A.C.L.U.’s Racial Justice Program; and at Interights, The International Centre for the Legal Protection of Human Rights.
Sarah holds a J. D. from Columbia Law School. She graduated from University of Virginia with a B.A. in Political and Social Thought, Phi Beta Kappa and with high distinction. She received a M.Phil. in Sociology from Cambridge University. At Columbia she was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and received several awards for her writing. She already has published several pieces, including "Finding the Fundamental: Shaping Identity in Gender and Sexual Orientation Based Asylum Claims."
