John Pendleton is a longtime partner at the law firm of McCarter and English in Newark. At McCarter, Mr. Pendleton defends public and private companies in breach of contract, misrepresentation, RICO, securities fraud, complex litigation and regulatory proceedings that are the subject of claims relating to sales practices, consumer fraud and restrictive covenants. He represents clients in both an advisory role and as a trial lawyer in individual cases throughout the country and nationwide class action litigation. His clients include Fortune 100 companies in financial services, leasing and pharmaceutical areas. He has tried to verdict more than fifty cases and managed hundreds of cases as national coordinating counsel for one of the largest financial service companies in the United States.
Mr. Pendleton is the former Mayor of Mountain Lakes and served as a member of the borough’s governing body for eight years. He also serves as a member of the Boards of Washington & Jefferson College and The Newark Boys Chorus School. He is the current Vice Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark.
