• Douglas S. Eakeley, Esq., Board Vice Chairman — Lowenstein, Sandler PC
  
  Douglas S. Eakeley is currently a member of the Lowenstein & Sandler P.C. law firm in New Jersey with extensive trial and appellate experience in complex commercial litigation. He has also served as First Assistant Attorney General of the State of New Jersey. In 1993, he was appointed by President Clinton to the Board of Directors of the Legal Services Corporation, which he chaired until April 2003. In 1997, he received the John Minor Wisdom Public Service and Professionalism Award from the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.

• Zulima V. Farber, Esq. — Lowenstein, Sandler PC
  
  Zulima V. Farber has more than 30 years of trial and appellate experience, concentrating in commercial litigation, administrative law, employment law and health care litigation. Ms. Farber was recognized as one of the 25 Women of Influence in New Jersey by NJBiz Magazine. In addition, Ms. Farber was recognized as a 2005 New Jersey Super Lawyer in the Civil Litigation Defense section of the publication.

• John J. Farmer, Jr., Esq., Board Chairman — Rutgers Newark Law School Dean
  
  Mr. Farmer is a former State Attorney General and federal prosecutor whose practice ranges from white collar criminal defense and corporate internal investigations to appellate advocacy and governmental/regulatory affairs, including homeland security matters. Mr. Farmer was Senior Counsel and Team Leader of the "9/11 Commission" and Chief Counsel to former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman. He is the Rutgers Newark Law School Dean.

• Angelo J. Genova, Esq. — Genova, Burns & Vernoia
  
  Angelo J. Genova, is a founding partner of the firm Genova, Burns & Vernoia.  Working out of the firm’s Newark office, he is a leading member of the New Jersey Bar in the practice areas of Labor and Employment Law, Election Law and Complex Litigation and Appeals. 

• Jerome C. Harris
  
  Mr. Harris is Director of Housing and Economic Development at City of Trenton and chairman of the New Jersey Black Issues Convention.  Mr. Harris is also the President of the Harris Organization, a strategic consulting firm specializing in community and organization development, and an adjunct Professor in the Political Science Department at Rowan University.

• Jacob M. Herschler— Prudential Annuities
  
  Since 2003, Jacob Herschler has held the position of Senior Vice President of Prudential. In the past, Mr. Herschler was employed as Vice President, Annuity Marketing at American Skandia (2000-2003), Vice President at Keyport Life Insurance Company (1990-2000), and Operations Department Manager, Division Manager, Unit Manager, Unit Supervisor, Supervisor Trainee at Allstate Insurance (1982-1990).

• Nicholas deB. Katzenbach, Esq. — Former US Attorney General, President, Emeritus
  
  Nicholas deB. Katzenbach's career of public service includes several key posts and accomplishments. After joining the U.S. Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, he was promoted to Deputy Attorney General in April 1962. In that role, and working closely with President Kennedy, he was responsible for securing the release of prisoners captured during the Bay of Pigs raid on Cuba. He also oversaw the Justice Department's efforts to desegregate the University of Mississippi in September 1962 and the University of Alabama in June 1963 and worked with Congress to ensure the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

• Sandra King -- Due Process

Sandra King is the Executive Producer of “Due Process.” airing on the New Jersey Network.  She has been producing and directing award-winning documentaries, news, and public affairs programs focusing on issues of race, class and justice, for over 25 years.   Ms. King has also lectured and taught journalism for many years, including at Rutgers University in Newark. 

 

• Paul C. Kurland, Esq. — McLaughlin & Stern
  
  Paul C. Kurland is currently at McLaughlin & Stern. He received a B.A. degree from Brooklyn College (1967) and a J.D. from New York University School of Law (1970). Until 1973 he was a litigator with the law firm of Cahill, Gordon & Reindel, where he practiced primarily in corporate, commercial, insurance, securities and media law, and participated in the defense of The New York Times in the Pentagon Papers case.
  

• John H. Lowenstein, Ph.D. — New York University
  
  Mr. Lowenstein joined the faculty of the New York University Department of Physics in 1974. His research specialties have been on the theory of particles and fields (until 1988), nonlinear dynamics and chaos (after 1988). He has published 70 papers in scientific journals. Since 1995, he has maintained an active collaboration with a colleague at Queen Mary, University of London.

• Roger A. Lowenstein, Esq. — Los Angeles Leadership Academy
  
  Mr. Lowenstein has been an educator for more than twenty years, teaching law at Seton Hall University in Newark, New Jersey, and at Occidental College in Los Angeles. In addition to practicing as a criminal defense attorney, he has been a television drama writer since moving to Los Angeles ten years ago. He serves on the boards of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, the Center for the Study of Political Graphics, the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, and the Progressive Los Angeles Network. His success in political fundraising, external relations and team building also prepare him for this newest endeavor.

 

• James McQueeny — Winning Strategies Public Relations LLC
  
  Jim McQueeny has built a varied and extensive career in journalism, government service, communications and marketing. Before taking the helm of Winning Strategies, Mr. McQueeny served as chief of staff and spokesman for United States Senator Frank Lautenberg and in the Carter-Mondale 1980 Presidential campaign. He was also a communications director of the New Jersey General Assembly; a White House Bureau Chief and reporter for the Newark-based The Star-Ledger; and an on-air correspondent for a New York City television station.

 

• Mark Murphy — Mark Murphy Solutions, LLC
  
  Mark M. Murphy was the Executive Director of The Fund for New Jersey, an endowed private foundation furthering the exploration of State public policy issues impacting our poorest communities. Mr. Murphy has served as a policy aide to U. S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy, and to the Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Human Services. He has also devised funding programs for several national and local foundations.
• B. John Pendleton — DLA Piper LLP
  John Pendleton is currently at DLA Piper LLP, located in Florham Park, NJ. Mr. Pendleton was a longtime partner at the law firm of McCarter and English in Newark. Mr. Pendleton is the former Mayor of Mountain Lakes and served as a member of the borough’s governing body for eight years.  He also serves as a member of the Boards of Washington & Jefferson College and The Newark Boys Chorus School.  He is the current Vice Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark.

• Richard W. Roper — Port Authority of New York & New Jersey
  
  Richard W. Roper, founder and president of the Roper Group, a public policy consulting firm specializing in economic and social policy research and evaluation, has had a 30-year career in public affairs. He has held senior levels positions in local, state, regional, and federal government agencies and has experience in nonprofit organizations and academic research, teaching, and administration.
  

• Grizel Ubarry, Treasurer — G. Ubarry, Inc.
  
  During the last twenty two years, Grizel Ubarry has been president and sole proprietor of G. Ubarry, Inc., a consulting firm that specializes in management and community economic development initiatives. Her firm specializes in working with non-profit organizations, community development corporations, businesses and financial institutions in the development of successful community revitalization projects, specifically in the field of affordable housing.
• Theodore V. Wells, Jr., Esq., Secretary — Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP
  
  Theodore V. Wells Jr. is a partner at the Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP law firm, with extensive litigation experience in white-collar criminal defense, complex civil and corporate litigation, SEC regulatory work and class action litigation. In 2006 The National Law Journal named Mr. Wells Lawyer of the Year.
• Hon. James R. Zazalli — Gibbons PC
  
  James R. Zazzali joins Gibbons as Of Counsel upon completing his term as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Justice Zazzali had served on the Supreme Court for over six years, and had written more than 100 opinions, before Governor Jon Corzine named him Chief Justice in 2006. Prior to his service on the bench, Justice Zazzali had served as New Jersey Attorney General; general counsel for the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority; Chairman of the New Jersey State Commission of Investigation; Chief of the Appeals Division of the Office of the Essex County Prosecutor; as well as other positions in addition to his private law practice.
